5 Question Friday for March 22, 2013

Anyone have a money tree that they are willing to give up?  I have shelled out more money in the past two weeks than I probably have the entire school year!  Our school is a pay to participate school so I had to pay for H to play baseball-- then comes the new batting gloves and cleats (thanks grandma!).  Then we find out he needs money for a new hat and then for a new jersey (which we do get to keep which will be nice but geesh!).  Then there is the tee shirt fundraiser.....more money to shell out!  Then Miss BB is going to participate in track....I am still waiting on a price for that.  Then we had to get her track shoes.  Then she brings home info for their reward field trip at the end of the year.....Cedar Point which is really cool but another $80!  Plus we signed SJ up for baseball as well!  I have written more checks this month than for the entire 2012 year.  Phew!

Let's get to 5 Question Friday-- maybe it will help me forget about all the money flying out of our household!

1. What advice would you give a newly married couple? My advice will be that love/marriage takes work on both sides.  You cannot just go about life as usual and let your marriage just exist.  You need to work on the relationship and occasionally it may need to be reinvented.   Take time to nurture the marriage and you will be far happier in the end.

2. Who does more laundry around your house?  Me.  Hubby is willing to help and he will get clothes out of the dryer and fold but I have to double check or clothes will go to the wrong kids.  In fact, as I was cleaning bedrooms last month I found one of my sweatshirts and a pair of Miss BB's shorts in Mr. H's room.  Hubby was doing all the laundry last summer after my foot surgery and gave these things to H.  He just threw them into a pile and didn't notice they weren't his!   No one will touch the whites.  I have to fold those because everyone gets confused with all the different socks and who they belong to.  Sigh......

3. What items, if any, do you prefer to buy organic or make yourself?
Well in 2011 I shifted away from most processed foods so I make a lot myself now.  We no longer use any condensed cream soups, no packaged noodle or rice dishes, I rarely buy cookies.  We have a garden in the summer and I can lots of different veggies and other yummy things so we don't have to buy them anymore.  We also go to pick your own farms for berries and peaches.  So whatever I can do to stay away from processed foods.  I can't afford organic produce at the store-- we go through so much so I try to get as much as I can straight from the farmer!

4. What book/TV series would you recommend for a friend on bedrest?  If they love to read and want something that will take some time then most definitely The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon.....hands down.  I highly recommend that series to anyone but it can be daunting with all those large books but oh so worth it!  As for TV--- I really can't say as I watch much so I don't have a suggestion!

5. So, they say it's Spring now...what does your "spring" look like at this very moment?  Ah Spring-- what is that???  We have snow on the ground, it has only been in the 20 and 30's for highs the past several days (it is only suppose to be 32 today), the wind has been blowing like crazy and it is wicked cold.  We have had several squalls of lake effect snow.  There is no spring here in Michigan.....not yet and it doesn't look like it is going to arrive any time soon.  It is super sad when you are looking forward to the low 40's next week!

Yeah-- I made it through all 5 questions--- how about you?  What would your answers be?  Why not head over to My Little Life to see what others are saying.....Have an awesome weekend (I can't wait to sleep in!).

  1. Money always seems to be flying out of our house as well. I never understood what my dad meant when he said money was "burning a hole in your pocket" but I get it now. Apparently it's just too hot to keep around! :)

    1. I am glad that we aren't the only ones-- it seems as though everyone has their hand out here at the end of the year. I love having my kids participate in sports and getting to do the fun stuff.....it just gets so stinking expensive as they get older!

      Thanks for dropping in!
