Weekly Menu for January 21, 2013

Winter has finally hit us here in Michigan.....brrrr it is so cold out there!  I am thinking of hibernating but unfortunately that isn't possible.  I guess I will just try to stay as warm as possible.  I guess maybe I should have included some warm soups for dinner but I have a problem-- the two youngest really aren't keen on soup and usually end up eating something else.  Sigh.

Weekly Menu for January 21, 2013

Monday: Leftovers (I am anticipating leftovers from dinner at grandma's house on Sunday as usually she makes lots of extras.  If this doesn't happen then I guess I will have to scramble to find something!)

Tuesday: Salmon patties, mashed potatoes, peas (BB wanted pasta salad but I don't have any fresh lemons or fresh veggies to put in it...so we'll go the mashed potato route instead).

Wednesday: Tacos

Thursday: Pork chops, homemade dressing, green beans

Friday: Homemade pizza (if I get to Costco to get cheese!  Let's hope I do because we also need toilet paper......kind of a necessity!)

Saturday: Stew-- (I made some awesome stew a few weeks ago using some of hubby's home brew.  Oh it was beyond good.  I want to see if I can duplicate it again!)

So last week I had a new slow cooker recipe for chicken that I said I would share if we approved of it.  Yes I found it on Pinterest and here is the pin:

The recipe is shown below the pin on pinterest as brown sugar chicken.  I believe the pin takes you to a sesame chicken recipe so I am not sure what the deal was.  If you cannot see the recipe and would like it- let me know and I will send it to you.

Our take on this dish-- I liked it.  It wasn't too sweet but did remind me a lot of sweet and sour chicken...Yum!  Hubby said it reminded him of the bourbon chicken I make minus the spice.  BB ate it without rice and dipped it in ranch dressing.  She really liked that.  SJ ate the chicken on a hamburger bun and said it was really good.  So while it got thumbs up all around, we definitely ate it in some very different ways.  This is typical of dinner here On A Hill......

Thanks for stopping in at Country Living On A Hill, I hope you enjoyed your visit.  I will be linking up with Orgjunkie and her MPM as well as on Healthy Branscom's Menu link up.   Both sites are  great places to get lots of ideas for your next menu.
