As promised here is an installation of my current craves and confessions. I decided to chunk them together this month.....maybe in the future I will do individual posts again....not sure as I am just trying things out!
1. Time alone with Hubby: In the past 19 years if I have learned anything about how to keep a marriage going (at least our marriage) it is to carve out some alone time at least once a month. When our kids were little, we usually were able to convince a grandma to watch them one evening a month so we could go out and relax. As the kids got older I wish I could say that it became easier to carve out these times but actually it became much harder! As the kids grew so did their schedules which meant that we spent a lot of time shuttling kids back and forth. Finally a few years ago I announced that we had to make sure we started making time for us again. We have done fairly well until about November of this year. We got busy and just hadn't taken any us time. Last Saturday we finally were able to and ahhhhh---- now we just need to keep this trend up.
2. Organization: This past Monday I sat down and worked on blog related "stuff" for 3 hours! While I am sure you the reader won't notice a huge difference for me it means that I am somewhat organized for January! I went through each day, decided on what I wanted to blog about topic wise and make a list. Now I don't have to sit and wonder what I should write about, dig around for post ideas and waste time sitting in front of the computer with a blank look on my face (well that might still happen!) If I could just get the rest of my house organized like this......maybe when all the kids are gone and out of the house?
3. Sunshine: Here in Michigan, January is usually a very dark and dreary month. We have been blessed with some sunshine the past couple of days and I am attempting to make the absolute most of it! Not only does the sunshine perk up my attitude but it warms the house up so nicely so that I am not sitting freezing all day long. I wish the sun would shine at least a little bit each day but since that isn't the case, I enjoy it even more when we do see it!
1. I had a nice pity party the other night: Have you ever had one of those days where even though you got a ton accomplished and are feeling good-- one look at what someone else has or has done and you feel useless and all your work is worthless? I had one of those evenings recently. I frustrated myself because I know I shouldn't compare myself with others. My goals, aspirations, etc might be similar but how I want to obtain these goals may be vastly different. It can be easy to become discouraged because of others success and even become jealous. I was thankful that I was able to find a post by Becca over at A Humble Bumble on pity parties. If you would like to read the post, click here. It sure helped me shake off the pity party feeling!
2. I miss Christmas Music: I love Christmas music but usually after listening to it for over a month and a half and I am ready for something different. Not so this year. For some reason, I just didn't get enough of all the holiday spirit! There is just nothing else like having that in the background all the time while I write, bake and read. I have turned back to my ipod and the shuffle feature but find myself clicking through songs frequently. Sigh....how many more months till it will be Christmas music season again?
3. Failing so far on posting more pictures with posts: I know I just listed that as a goal on Wednesday of this week but geesh it is already the 10th of January and I haven't put one new picture on. I do have to confess that our upload speed is extremely slow here and my pictures are very large. I need to find a way to make the pictures smaller files but haven't looked into that yet either. So all around I am failing miserably at this. Next week will be better (trying to think positively!).
Thanks for stopping in. What are you enjoying or struggling with this month? I would love to hear from you, leave me a comment.

From everything I’ve read about marriage, having time alone with each other is vital. I’m happy you and your husband carve out that time and I hope you are able to keep it up this year!
ReplyDeleteI’m glad God was able to use that post on pity parties to help you out. I admit, I still struggle with that. It’s so easy to fall in to the pity party trap. Thanks for linking to my post, btw. That was nice of you. :)
As for pics for your posts… did you ever check out Microsoft’s free images? I use them when I’m stumped for pics. Just make sure you link back to them somehow to give them credit for the pic (I just make it so when you click on the pic it goes to the page I got the pic). http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/images/
Thanks for all your support Becca! I used to fall into the pity party trap frequently. I have been doing such a great job of staying off that path the past couple of years but this week has been a struggle. I just love that I had somewhere to go so I didn't feel so alone in that regard!
DeleteI have used some microsoft free images before.....I just seem to forget. Like I forget to take pictures! I definitely need to work on that.
