5 Question Friday for January 11, 2013

Finally!  This first long, long week back to our regularly scheduled program is done.  Not sure why it felt like it was 2 weeks long without a weekend but it sure did!  I am ready for a day or two of sleeping in without these early mornings.  How about you?  How did you fare this week?

Since it is finally Friday, it means that it is time for 5 Question Friday.  Let's get it started:

1. Flu mist? Flu shot? Or take your chances? I have never gotten either, I have always taken my chances as do all of us in my household.  BUT......BB and I both ended up sick during Thanksgiving and after.  It was beyond horrible.  I have not been that sick in a very long time.  I have to admit that maybe next year I might just have to try getting a flu shot.  I am hoping the boys stay healthy because they never did get sick with BB and I.  I would hate for them to be as miserable as we were!

2. Do your kids have iPads? What are some good educational apps? Price? Heck, I can't even afford an iPad for me....so no my kids do not have an ipad.  I did get a Kindle Fire for Christmas.  I love it and the kids do enjoy playing games on it.  Nothing educational, just fun free games!

3. What are your favorite boy/girl baby names? I cannot say that I do have favorite names.  I still do like the names we chose but beyond that.....sure there are names I like but I guess at this point in my life, I really don't focus on it.  No more kids coming our way so it doesn't really matter!

4. If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, which apple do you choose to eat? (red/green, gala, red delicious...) All of us here On A Hill love tart, crisp apples.  Think Mac's, those are our absolute favorite apple.  Fuji are also good.  There are a couple other ones that I buy-- but I cannot think of their names off the top of my head.  We stay away from the delicious ones.  They are just mushy and bland - at least to us.

5. What is your favorite place to escape to for peace & quiet, to think? Why? If we have a full house (say during the summer or weekend), I will often go for a walk - We live on a private road and no one lives beyond our house but the road continues.  It is in really bad condition now (as in no one should drive on it although occasionally people still will) so basically there is no traffic.  It gives me a little bit of peace and quiet, I can listen to the birds, the wind blowing through the trees, etc.  I can enjoy nature and work through whatever is going on in my mind.  If our garden is growing, sometimes I go out there and weed or pick whatever is ripe.  That always helps too.  Similar experience as going for a walk but it gives me something purposeful to do as well.

  2. The "Delicious" apples? Grody. I agree with you...mushy and bland! My mom told me the red delicious apples were "bred" for their visual appeal! Sheesh, don't those ag scientists know that looks aren't everything? :)

    1. Ewwww-- really? So let's make a pretty apple but who cares what it looks like? Honestly, I would rather have an ugly apple that tastes good. I don't judge my apples according to appearance!

Thanks for stopping in and sharing.

    1. Now it makes me wonder if some people out there buy delicious apples just to sit on their table?!?! :-) I can't afford to be that extravagant.... we have to be able to eat the apples!
