Thankfully this week was much, much better than last week. Finally on Thursday and Friday I felt like myself instead of a sick shell of my former self! Of course my plans of shopping on Friday went out the door with a sick SJ but that is okay. I will get my shopping in eventually, I hope!
Onward to my craves for this past week......
1. For my cough to go away: I have a lingering cough from the crud that hit me. I have coughed so much the past few days that I am pretty sure I have pulled some muscles in my jaw (it hurts!). I have taken cough meds to no avail and I am sure that the cough is helping get things moving but after awhile, geesh....enough is enough!
2. Chocolate truffles: I used to be a total chocoholic. This past year my cravings have gone more towards the sweet chewy candy but recently the chocolate love has been showing up again. We bought some chocolate truffles at Harry and David a few weeks ago and I have snuck into them-- shhhh! Don't tell anyone! There are still a ton left so no one will wonder where they all went as long as I can keep my cravings under control!
3. Citrus Fruit: I have been working on getting some more vitamin c to help me fight all these germs! So oranges and grapefruit have been in my diet lately. Some of the navel oranges have been really good and I have been sprinkling brown sugar on my grapefruit-- yum!!
4. Cranberry sauce: A couple of years ago hubby made some really good cranberry sauce with just some sugar and oranges. No cooking is involved so there is a great fresh tart/sweet flavor. I had grabbed a bag of cranberries a couple weeks ago and finally got around to making the relish this past week. YUM! It tasted really good with the meatballs I made this past week.....and then I finished up the relish with some homemade corn tortilla chips-- super yum!
5. Snow: I am not a snow lover however at this time of the year, snow is just a necessity! Snow helps get us all into a holiday mood and this year we haven't had any snow yet (well none that has stuck to the ground anyway). Last year we saw no snow and it sure was hard to get into the holiday mood. It just never felt like Christmas. I am hoping we see some snow before Christmas this year-- otherwise it is going to be another tough year. Then, for me anyway, the snow can go away after January 1st and we can have 60 degree weather again! :-)
Happy weekend everyone!
