Book Review-- Food Network Magazine 1000 Easy Recipes

Saturday evening hubby had his work party.  We decided to leave early and get a few things done before we headed over.  We finished our errands fairly quickly (wow almost everywhere was super busy with holiday shoppers!) so we went to his office (we were having dinner just around the corner from his office so we all met at the office for appetizers first).  Since we were so early we decided to run to the small book store across the street from his office.  It featured a really nice cafe and while it was small, I will definitely be back!  They had new books and used books plus signs saying that they buy used books.  I might have to drag in some books to see if I could sell them (and then grab some new books with the money)!

One book caught my eye: Food Network Magazine 1,000 Easy Recipes Super Fun Food for Every Day***.  I love recipe books (I have probably half a bookcase of them) and this is a thick one.  I think what I love the most is that for some of the "chapters" they give you a basic idea-- like how to toast a baguette for crostini and then they list page after page of topping ideas.  Everything from pesto tomato to apple butter blue cheese to tiramisu.  I like the concept of here is the basic idea plus lots of ways to mix it up!  The pictures are fresh, crisp and make the food look amazing.
I have found most of the recipes to to fairly easy to understand and best of all most of them call for basic ingredients-- not much processed foods (I haven't seen cream of soup listed once!).  Most include some basic fresh ingredients with things you probably have in your cupboard.  Some of the ethnic ones do call for some unusual ingredients but I am sure you probably could pick most of the ingredients up at a fair sized grocery store.

There are drink ideas, no bake dessert ideas, plus many, many more.  I was able to get a good deal on the book-- it was on clearance at the store we visited.  I debated at first on getting it- as I have so many recipes books, magazines, pinned on Pinterest, etc but I honestly have to say that I am sure I will use this book for inspiration many, many times.

***I purchased this book with my own hard earned money (okay well hubby's hard earned money).  I have not received any compensation for this review nor is this endorsed by any company.  The opinions expressed above are mine and they were in no way influenced by anyone or any company.***
