Welcome to another week on the hill. We were lucky enough to get to the strawberry patch on Sunday morning. We picked 5 big ice cream pails full- I will try to get a picture of some of what are left. The smell was amazing when we got out of the car-- the air was filled with the scent of sun drenched strawberries! So far I have made 1 batch of jam, filled two cookie sheets and stuck them in the freezer and we had some strawberry shortcake for dessert after dinner on Sunday.
What did you do over the weekend?
Looking forward to the upcoming week and I am thankful that things will begin to slow down for us. We only had 2 baseball games this week. I have a doctor's appointment for my surgical pre-op and that is pretty much it for the week. I am hoping that hubby and I can get away for the day on Saturday- it has been forever since we have run away together!
Monday: Shepherd's Pie
Tuesday: Homemade pizza since we didn't make it on Friday
Wednesday: Meatballs and taters
Thursday: Tuna pasta salad and cornbread
Friday: Burgers
Saturday: Kids on their own and Hubby and I out to eat
Sunday: Grease fest 2012 for Father's Day!! (otherwise known as our once a year fish fry where we also make homemade onion rings, fried dill pickles, mushrooms and whatever veggies we have that we can dip in batter and fry!).
Everyone is looking forward to Grease fest and I thought Father's Day was a great day to have it. I love homemade onions rings, deep fried mushrooms and dill pickles. YUM!
What does your week look like? What do you serve for dinner during the summer? I need some easy meals to incorporate into our summer menu- especially when I am not able to be on my feet for very long.
Thanks for stopping by the hill, come back again soon.

Hi! I found your blog through Menu Plan Monday! I love fresh strawberries. I used to teach near a strawberry farm and each late April, the owner would drive a truck filled with buckets of fresh strawberries to school!

ReplyDeleteI hope you and your hubby are able to get away this weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe have strawberries in our garden. YUMMY! I'm becoming addicted. ;) So far my week looks relaxing, which is always nice. :)
Elizabeth- thanks for stopping by! Hi Becca!
ReplyDeleteHubby was asking about strawberry plants yesterday as we picked. Not sure where we would put them right now-- but then we improvised our pumpkin patch! I will have to get him to take some pictures, I am not sure I can get back up the hill with my boot on!
We picked 5 buckets full and we have gone through 3 buckets already! We love our strawberries!
