Some Happenings on the Hill during the past week

I have to admit, my brain is frazzled today.  Friday I went out with some high school friends and had a fabulous time.  Saturday we went to watch Mr. H play baseball in regionals, they lost.  Sunday we went and picked a bunch of strawberries.  Then I came home, made a batch of jam, filled two trays to freeze and made strawberry shortcake.  Monday I have to run to hubby's work, we ran out to lunch, I did a little shopping, had a doctor's appt to get clearance for surgery (which I now have-yeah!), and then ran to Costco to grab a cartload of stuff.    So yes, my brain is currently on vacation.

Tuesday:

SJ's class went swimming in the morning and then had a picnic on the football field.  After lunch they did some relay games.  I love this picture of him.  The look on his face is priceless!

That evening we had the High School Baseball Banquet.  Here is Mr. H getting his varsity letter.  He also got an honorable mention for all conference (for a great year!!) and a plaque for Most Outstanding Player on the team (the team voted for who they felt should win this).  What a great night he had!

Wednesday:

We had some rain showers that passed through- it brought a little bit of lightening so SJ's game was called just a little bit early (which was good, the other team still had school the next day!).  These pictures are views of looking Northwest from our house-- out over the big hill we sit on and to the west.  The colors were beautiful.  The pictures do it some justice but just not enough.

Saturday:

Here are some pictures of Mr. H playing in regionals.  If you look at the first one and look at the spectators you can see that it was a pop fly!  Mr. H is just ready to run!

This is the back of SJ watching Mr. H play.  We put this on the back of his shirt.  When Mr. H first went to practice for baseball in high school he didn't realize that there was going to be practice that first day.  He called to have me bring is glove to school.  I asked if he wanted shorts to change into and he said no.  So he showed up the first day of practice in jeans.  From then on his nickname has been Levi.  Some of the upperclassman only know him as Levi, I don't know if they know his real name or not!  This year when SJ would go to some of the games, he would run after foul balls and the team started calling him L'il Levi.  Both boys love this!

That is a recap of last week on the hill.  This week promises to be a bit less hectic.  Thanks for stopping by!

I linked up with Amy for her link up -- anti-procrastination day.  Go and check out some of the awesome ideas submitted.

  2. Thanks Jamie for stopping by! It was a fairly busy week...thankful that it is now summer vacation.

My group from High School just recently started getting together again. One friend is obviously a forever friend-- we can not talk for years and within 2 minutes we are talking like we were never apart. With the others we stay close via facebook but it is so fun to actually get together and talk. I missed these girls night out....when my kids were young I always felt guilty about leaving them and hubby. Now that they are older, I wish we could go out more often!

  3. I enjoyed the pics. It's so hard to capture the beautiful sunsets- but your pics are really pretty! Congrats to your son ("Levi")! Sounds like he does really well! From how you write, sounds like you have 2 great boys that you are proud of. :)

  4. Becca-- I was having a very hard time getting the colors to show up on the pictures. It was such a gorgeous sunset and I really wanted all those colors to show up. I was surprised when I put the pictures on the computer at how much of the color I did get (it didn't look like that on the little camera screen!).

I am very proud of all my kids. Yes some days they drive me completely nuts but I love the people they have become. I enjoy just sitting around and talking to them about all kinds of topics. You always try to do your best as a parent and I think just maybe that they might actually be able to go out into the world eventually and survive! :-D That has always been my main goal.
