Confessions for Sunday, June 10, 2012

Welcome to my Sunday confessions, where I confess all my bad behavior for the week.  Then I can start off the next week with a clear conscious and not feel bad about all my slips.  I have actually found it very helpful!  If you wish to leave your confessions in the comment section, you can see if it will help you make a fresh start.  I would love to know that I am not alone.

1. Eating out: On the last day of school my mom took my kids and I out to lunch.  I could have been a good girl and had a salad but oh no-- the fish and french fries looked too good to pass up.  So that is what I ordered.  YUM!  I like fish but it is so much better when it's deep fried for some reason.  I was good however and ordered only ice tea!

2.  Soda:  While I behaved at the restaurant, I bought some soda for SJ's lunch on Tuesday (it was a special picnic and he had requested something different to drink).  Since I wanted the smaller plastic bottles, I had to buy several.  Okay, I wouldn't have had to but I did.  Since it was on hand, I figured I would enjoy one.   Sigh...there is just too much pleasure in soda for me.

3. Dark Chocolate and Jelly Beans: My mom bought me a big bar of dark chocolate (which I promptly hid so I could enjoy it) and I have been slowly enjoying a piece or two a day.  Hmmm I love dark chocolate.  Then when we were in the dollar store, I searched for my beloved Belly Flops.  I found some and let's just say that they didn't last very long.

4. Not icing enough:  Ha after typing this it sounds like I didn't have enough frosting for a cake!  But this has nothing to do with frosting and everything to do with my gimpy foot.  Since I got the very sexy CAM walker to wear, I forget to ice my heel and ankle.  So for the past several days when I take off the sexy footwear, my heel and ankle are very swollen.  I know before I was told to ice it at least 3 times a day.  I haven't been given much instruction for this in between time, which I am waiting for surgery.  I no longer have to go to physical therapy, I haven't been given any other instructions though.  I do know that the swelling isn't good though so I suppose I should ice more.

5. Lax parenting: During the summer my kids pretty much run wild, I admit it.  My youngest is often at the neighbor's house, sometimes most of the day. On Thursday he never came in and ate lunch.  So he was starving at dinner time.  He often stays out until later at night and I don't always get him herded into the shower.  I let the kids stay up and watch tv until untold hours of the night.  Things are pretty mellow here during the summer time.  I have found that it works for us, having less rules and letting them make their own choices.
