Thursday's Finds and Transformations

Last Thursday I posted about my desire to seek out treasures from yard sales, garage sales and thrift stores.  Writing about these things gave me the desire to go out and start searching.  I wasn't sure if any garage/yard sales were going on (and I didn't see any while I was out driving) so I headed for our local Goodwill store instead.

I wandered the aisles of the Goodwill store trying to see past what these items were and look at them in a whole new light.  I struggled, greatly!  I just wasn't seeing much that caught my eye- until I saw this green glass candy dish?  vase?  bowl?  I am not sure what it's purpose was suppose to be but I could see it sitting on my mantle, giving me some color and variety up there.  But I just wasn't sure.  So I moved on, went to look through the books.  After finding two books I went back to look at the green glass again.  It was marked at 99 cents.  So I decided, why not?

I had other errands to run so while driving, I thought about the green glass container I had just purchased (while still being a safe driver, I promise!).  It hit me about 10 minutes later.  I had a small candy dish (a snowman candy dish at that) in my bathroom that held small odds and ends.  Maybe the green glass would work in there.  Hmmm, it seemed that I was starting to look outside the box.

This is what I had before.

Once I got home I gave the green glass a good wash, dried it up and tried in in my bathroom.  Here's how it looks.

I love it!  It is honestly quite tall sitting on the shelf but I love the way it classes up the mirror and bathroom.  Hopefully it will be safe there-- between kids, dogs and my clumsy self, it could easily be in danger.  Fingers crossed!

I am so proud of myself and love the green glass.  On to the next adventure!  Thanks for stopping and visiting me here on the hill.  I hope you stop by again soon.
