While searching through my much used recipe book, I decided to compile a list of recipes that I just cannot do without. Originally I decided on a top 10 list but I honestly wasn't able to eliminate a recipe so I decided it could be my top 11 recipes!
Since I haven't included most of these recipes- in fact I think the only one I have shared is #10- I figured I would break this up and include 2-3 recipes a week, counting down my favorite recipes.
Most of the recipes have stood the test of time in my kitchen, meaning that they have been in my recipe files for many years. Others are newer but have been used so many times already that I know that I will continue going back to this recipe for years to come.
Up this week-- numbers 11, 10 and 9:
11. No Bake Cookies: These have been a huge favorite of mine for many, many years. Two things- you must make sure that you bring the cookies up to a full rolling boil and then boil for 1 minute. If you don't they won't set up well. Second you must use old fashioned oats. Quick cooking oats just don't seem to have the same ooph! The other note- most times these cookies set fine for me, other times they don't. If they don't set up as well as you had hoped, stick them in the fridge- they will still be good!

10. Chewy Brownie Cookies: These cookies are fairly new to my collection but I have already made them half a dozen times in the past couple of months. Every easy to throw together and very yummy. Find the recipe here.
9. Egg Sausage Casserole: This has been a long standing recipe for Christmas Morning Breakfast. However a few years ago I realized that the kids enjoyed it for dinner as well. So now we enjoy it a few times a year instead of just once!
egg and sausage casserole
9-12 eggs
5 pieces of bread, cubed
1/2 tsp dry mustard
8 oz shredded cheese
1-3/4 cup milk
1 lb sausage, browned and crumbled
Mix all ingredients together in a large casserole or 9x13 baking pan. Refrigerate 2-3 hours or overnight. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until center is set. Let rest 15-20 minutes before serving.
Next week I will feature another batch of recipes I can't live without. Stay tuned....
Thanks for visiting me here on the hill, I hope you stop by again soon.
