Today is another busy day. After sitting all fall and winter waiting for subbing assignments, I now have a few more under my belt and a few on the schedule. Add in a field trip tomorrow and I have had one busy week. While I am thankful for the additional money it brings in, it sure does mess up my schedule! Plus with the internet being out all week, I have fallen way behind on my blogging goals, blogging plans, and future writing plans. Hopefully next week I can put in some double time to get back on track.
Being so busy means that I am unable to do some of my regular link ups. I love doing 5 question Friday but I know I won't be able to get onto the internet on Friday morning, answer the questions, finish the blog post and get out the door on time. I am not a morning person! I am lucky to be showered and dressed on time.
So.....this Friday will be a bit different again. Last time I shared 5 things about me that most people probably wouldn't know. Today I will share with you 5 crazy things I have in my bedroom. Maybe kind of strange, maybe kind of out there but hey, definitely something different!
So here we go!
1. A Cookbook from 1929 and some food packaging with recipes from the 50's and 60's: I adore recipes. My mom gave this book to me a couple of years ago. I chuckle every single time I start to thumb through it. Did you know that you should have different table clothes, place settings and decorations on the table for each meal? How about different lunch menus for when the man of the house is home or when it is just mom and the kids? Some of the recipes are interesting to say the least but I love seeing how times have changed.
2. A Colonial Hand Loom: Last year I made a loom out of a cardboard box. It definitely worked but not very long lasting. After a few uses the cardboard starting to break down. When we were in Springfield, Illinois two weekends ago, we went into a gift shop in New Salem. They had a colonial wooden hand loom. I decided to spend some of my birthday money on it. It is sturdier than my cardboard one and since I now have a template, I might be able to get my father in law to make me a new one if this one breaks!
3. Dog Bones: When we only had the pug I would often find her bones hidden under our bed or behind my cedar chest. Since we now have another dog who chews up any bones she fines, I no longer find stray bones. However, I did buy the girls a couple of bones for Easter. They each have had one but I have hidden the rest in our bedroom. If I am not careful about how I distribute them, we have some good dog fights going on. Bones seem to be the only thing our big dog is possessive over.
4. Routers: Yes I did say routers with an S. Now we just need the internet to connect to it. This is something new to take up residence in our bedroom and hopefully we can get it all working again here soon. We had an older router to get us through until our new one arrived. Well it arrived, we just don't have internet to connect to said routers at the moment. I have been told it should be back up and working today. We shall see.
5. An Old American Flag: When my dad was younger, he helped his dad tear an old house down. Inside the walls they found two small american flags (think something that kids would wave at a parade). My grandpa's apparently was lost in a fire some years later but my dad kept his safe. When he passed away I inherited the flag. It appears to be some sort of cloth and stripes and stars are painted onto the cloth. It is in fairly rough shape but has a great rustic look. I bought a frame and hung it on the wall a few years ago. My intention was to decorate our bedroom around that theme. It hasn't happened yet but maybe someday.
So there you have it, some crazy things that have taken up residence in my bedroom. One of these days some of things need to find their proper home. Just like one day in the near future I need to take a shovel to my youngest son's room! But that is an entirely different story.
Don't forget to check out my latest giveaway, there are still a few more days to get registered. Thanks for stopping by and visiting me here on the hill. Stop by again soon.
