So yesterday while searching for a recipe I began to wonder where most cooks get their recipes. Do you cook things that you remember as a child? Do recipes come from family? Friends? Cookbooks? The internet? The majority of the recipes I have tried recently have come from the internet.
I have binders full of recipes I have retrieved from the internet. It is fun looking through those first binders and looking at the recipes I chose then. It all started for me in 2004, when my kids were 7, 3-1/2 and 1-1/2. Most of those recipes are quick, easy, rely on pre-made items and fairly kid friendly.
I have come a long way since then! Now I try to make as much as I can from scratch, rely less on those pre-made items and am a great deal more adventurous! Pie crusts and homemade yeast breads used to scare me to no end- I was sure there was no way I could make those items! While my pie crust might not always look pretty, usually its tastes good. My bread might not be a show stopper but what can be a hot piece of homemade bread with some homemade raspberry jam?
Menu for the week of 2/6/2012
Monday: Homemade mac and cheese with smoked sausage, roasted asparagus
Tuesday: Seafood Chinichungas ( this will be my first attempt. My oldest son loves seafood chimi's)
Wednesday: Potato Soup or mini fritatas- I can't decide
Thursday: Goulash
Friday: Hot ham and cheese sandwiches, baked beans, roasted cauliflower
Saturday: Hot venison sandwiches and fries
Sunday: Steak and potatoes, green beans
I am linking up with Org Junkie at Meal Plan Mondays! Check out some of the other menus for inspiration.
