It Happened on the Hill--- Temporary Single Parent
First I want to extend kudos and applause to all those single parents out there who do it all for their children. You have my honest to goodness admiration for all that you do!
I am finally entering the end of my temporary single parenthood. I have done this before for much longer- in 2005 & 2006 we moved from Michigan to Florida and back again to Michigan. I was the one who stayed behind with the kids so that they could finish school and so I could get our houses sold! Now it wasn't easy back then when the kids were so young- I wasn't able to leave them home alone and was on 24/7.
I have to admit that while in some aspects it's much easier to be the only parent now that my kids are older--- I actually went to the grocery store alone and only bought what was on my list! However there is so much more running around now. On Thursday I travelled the round trip to and from school (about 12 miles round trip) 3 times. First to get my youngest from school, then to get my daughter from basketball practice and finally at 8 to get my son. Then there is the running of kids to friends houses, picking up other friends, etc. I was never on the road this much when they were younger.
Add in 2 snow days and a teacher's work day and I have not had the house to myself in a LONG time. My weekly goals are slowly slipping away.....at least I always have next week......
